Mikah Hand Stamped Jewellery & Gifts CONTRIBUTES $2 FROM EVERY ORDER TO OUR FUNDRAISING EFFORTS TO PURCHASE A COLD COT FOR OUR LOCAL HOSPITAL.
OUR GOAL FOR 2019 IS TO RAISE $2500.
A cold cot can cost approx. $6000.
March 2012 began our journey of coping with loss and grief after our second child, George, was stillborn. No parent can ever expect this to happen to them, your future is altered along with your dreams and wishes.
Utterly lost and alone we immersed ourself in doing things for George in his memory...at home, in our work and through organisations (donating a percentage of sales to Sands QLD from 2014-2016).
Then October 2016 our fourth child, Harper, was also stillborn. Once was hard enough and the grief of losing George was still raw. We knew what to expect and how to make the most of every moment with our baby girl. The difference this time...Emerikus Land Foundation had donated a cuddle cot to our hospital since George was born. We had 24 hours of cuddles, kisses, photo's, holding hands and just knowing she was there. The difference this made to us was immense - she was there not taken away.
We will never stop wishing we had this with George but we are so blessed to have had this time with Harper.
We are eternally grateful to the Emerikus Land Foundation for this priceless gift. We donated to this charity from 2016-2018.
July 2018 we lost our Jellybean. Jellybean was 8-10 weeks old and was our rainbow after yet another storm. The grief and hopelessness felt by losing our child felt like groundhog day. After a very tough fertility journey our window of happiness was destroyed and the prospect of having more children taken away. We wish with all our heart that we still had this baby with us today.
All of this has taught us so much. We have since been very involved in the community, supporting other families that have lost a child too. We held the first Bereaved Mother's Day event in Toowoomba, 2019 will see the first Walk To Remember in Toowoomba, we hold regular get togethers with other bereaved parents and we hope to work more closely with SANDS in 2019.
We hope that we can donate a cold cot to our local hospital in 2019, with your help we can reach our goal.
